According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, about 70 countries and territories in the world already have a carbon market, which currently controls about 11 billion tonnes of carbon, equivalent to 20 per cent of global emissions.
Việt Nam will operate its carbon credit market on a trial basis during 2025-2028 without any sales to foreigners as well as regulations on credit exchanges with regional and global markets, heard a meeting in Hà Nội on October 7.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project worth US$3.6
million to help Viet Nam to build its own carbon market following an
application from the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
